PBI

Vertical 03

Aerospace & Aviation

Private aviation, aerospace systems, airborne logistics and the mobility layer that compresses distance for people and freight.

Investment thesis

Why the group is here

Aerospace is where the group's interest in mobility becomes least forgiving. Tolerances are narrow, capital intensity is high, and the operators who succeed tend to be technically distinctive.

PBI participates as an investor and strategic partner rather than a manufacturer. The group's contribution is capital, patience and access to the Executive Committee.

Airborne logistics is of particular interest, on the basis that the ability to move something quickly is usually worth more than the thing itself.

Focus areas

Where activity concentrates

Private aviation

Aircraft interests, charter arrangements and fractional structures evaluated on utilisation, not aspiration.

Aerospace systems

Subsystems, avionics and componentry with defensible engineering positions.

Airborne logistics

Time-critical movement of goods where speed carries measurable commercial value.

Adjacent mobility

Ground handling, maintenance and the operational layer between the runway and the destination.

Materially intriguing. Occasionally delayed by weather.
